LEARNING

Learn how to learn.

Strong results matter. So does becoming an independent learner who can think, prepare and take responsibility.

At Heuristica, academic responsibility is not simply expected. It is taught.

OUR METHOD

PREPARE → ENGAGE → DEEPEN

01

Prepare.

Come to class ready.

Before a lesson, students engage with the material themselves — reading ahead, identifying key ideas and making a short summary of what they understand.

02

Engage.

Use the classroom to understand more.

The lesson builds on that preparation. Students listen, ask questions, discuss, clarify what they misunderstood and add to what they already know.

03

Deepen.

Make the learning your own.

After the lesson, students refine their notes, fill gaps in their understanding and use practice, revision and application to strengthen what they have learned.

The aim is not simply to remember enough for the next test. It is to understand, master and learn how to learn.

STUDY SKILLS

RESPONSIBILITY SHOULD BE TAUGHT BEFORE IT IS EXPECTED.

Every student who enters Heuristica — whether in Grade 8 or later — completes Study Skills. Students learn how to extract important information, identify key ideas, summarise effectively, take useful notes, test their own understanding and prepare systematically for tests and examinations.

Study Skills forms part of the Heuristica Clubs programme and earns normal Club Credits.

SMALL CLASSES

Room to think.

Room to be known.

Heuristica is intentionally small, with classes of approximately 20 students. Smaller classes support discussion, accountability, meaningful teacher-student relationships and individual attention.

Curriculum & Subjects

Heuristica’s curriculum pathways and subject offering are being finalised as we prepare for the 2028 opening. Families on the Interest List will receive academic and subject announcements as they are confirmed.
